While it's true that every Ferrari is innovative by definition, it's
equally true that in the course of the Prancing Horse's history,
certain cars have marked a genuine departure from the current range.
This is very much the case with the Ferrari 458 Italia, which is a
massive leap forward from the company's previous mid-rear engined
sports cars. |

| Working in Modena right at the start of Enzo Ferrari's great adventure,
Sergio Scaglietti bodied some of the most beautiful cars ever to emerge
from Maranello. Scaglietti wasn"t a man who relied on pencil and paper
to create his magnificent designs: he worked like a sculptor,
fashioning their forms from aluminium. And now Luca di Montezemolo has
dedicated the understated yet historically important all-aluminium 612
to the memory of that great designer . |

| For years, from the old 166 or 250 GT sport saloons to, somewhat later,
with the GTO or F40, Ferraris have remained Spartan in terms of their
trim, even though they had luxurious touches, to focuse entirely on
performance in which every single gram of excess weight was eliminated.
The other distinctive characteristic is the red body colour, an
unmistakable sign of a Maranello car. |

| You expect a Ferrari Enzo to be quick; a "slow supercar" is as much of
an oxymoron as a "fast moped". You also expect an Enzo to be
temperamental; Ferrari freely admits that post-delivery mechanical
malfunctions are an integral part of the development process. |

| Although the fundamental design philosophy of the F2003-GA is the same
in terms of optimising aerodynamic efficiency, lowering centre of
gravity height, maximising the performance available from the
Bridgestone tyres and the 052 engine, many areas of the car had to be
fundamentally reviewed in order to make a step forward in performance
because these areas were close to the limit of development on the F2002. |

| The key elements of the new 575M Maranello can be neatly summed up in
the model name. In fact, the engine is described by the new numerical
code, 575, as this is an abbreviated indication of its capacity,
increased from 5500 to 5750 cc, resulting in an increase in both power
and torque. |

styled more Ferraris than any other, the 50th anniversary of the two
company's first joint endeavour, and a celebration of the Scuderia
Ferrari's 2000 and 2001 World Championships for Formula 1 Constructors. |
